Why did you choose to be a CPA and/or advisor?
I excelled in accounting class in high school and college and wanted to help companies understand their finances.
What do you like best about helping clients?
When I'm able to show the value in my services, with a significant return on investment and audit cost recovery.
What energizes you about your job?
The fact that I'm always learning and growing. The terms of an agreement change based on the client, service, industry and third party. If I'm not focused and understanding the industry, agreement and pertinent terms, then I cannot find the money.
What energizes you about working at PKF Texas?
The people. Since joining PKF Texas, I've met great people who are passionate about their job and the firm. I'm from a small town in Texas, and the people make you feel right at home.
Why are you passionate about serving this niche?
When you are the person looking for mistakes that could become a significant cost for a third party, no one is happy to meet or work with you. I see it as a challenge to obtain what is needed to complete the mission and do it as a collaborative effort. Make the third party feel we are working together, and I'm here to help get it right, be transparent.
Where are you from?
West, TX
What do you do in your spare time?
Weight lifting, running, hiking, playing baseball and enjoying the outdoors with my wife and daughter.
What's your favorite season?
Fall, football season.
What's your favorite sport to follow?
Football
Do you own any pets?
A Yorkshire Terrier we call the 2 Pound Terrorist, because he thinks he's a 100-pound attack dog.
Favorite color(s)
Red, white and blue.
What kind of music do you like?
Alternative, rock, metal and sometimes R&B/blues/90's rap.
What is your favorite book/author? Or What are you reading right now?
Ordinary Men by Christopher R. Browning
What's your favorite vacation destination?
Camping in the mountains
Favorite movie?
Sandlot
Who was/is the most influential person in your life?
My mother. She raised me on her own and did everything she could to make sure we had enough. She worked multiple jobs at a time and always saw the purpose/happiness in sacrifice.
What is your most prized possession?
My Apple watch. It is addicting to close out my activity rings. I enjoy competing with friends, and it keeps me accountable on my workout and making sure I stand up a walk.
What's something cool we don't know about you?
I'm obsessed with archery and how difficult it is to shoot a bow consistently.
