Recap: 2021 Accounting and Tax Updates and Changes for Not-for-Profits Webinar

by | Sep 1, 2021

We had record-breaking attendance to our webinar, “2021 Accounting and Tax Updates and Changes for Not-for-Profits,” on August 25, 2021! According to a polling question, 60% of attendees were not-for-profit executive team members. We were bummed to move the seminar from in-person to virtual due to the rise in the Delta variant of COVID-19. The PKF Texas team members were looking forward to meeting with attendees!

The webinar presenters were PKF Texas Directors Emily Smikal, CPA, and Nicole Riley, CPA, CFE. Accounting and tax updates are a popular topic, because rules change and new ones are added, and it can be challenging to keep up with them all. Emily and Nicole’s goal for this webinar was to keep the audience up to date on what they need to know for their organizations, as well as help educate them on their responsibilities to their donors. They discussed various pieces of legislation and guidance including:

  • CARES Act,
  • Paycheck Protection Program Loan Forgiveness,
  • Employee Retention Credit,
  • ASU 2020-07,
  • and more.

In addition, they also pointed out specifics for important documents, such as Form 990 reporting items and different parts of an Audit report to pay attention to.

As changes come from the Biden administration, we’ll be sure to continue keeping not-for-profits apprised on what they need to know. We’re crossing our fingers we’ll be able to host our next and future seminars in person again!
