Karen: This is PKF Texas, The Entrepreneur’s Playbook. I’m Karen Love, and I’m the host and co-founder. Today I’m here with Rose Morales, general manager of the King Ranch Saddle Shop. Now we want to welcome you to The Playbook, Rose. Thank you for being with us today.
Rose: Thank you. Thank you for being here.
Karen: Well, you know, the fact that you’re with the King Ranch brings back historical, you know, all kinds of iconic thoughts for a Texan and those outside of Texas. Tell us a little bit about the King Ranch, because people don’t really know a lot about it.
Rose: King Ranch is one of the largest family-owned ranches in the world. It was founded in 1853 by Captain Richard King.
Karen: Right.
Rose: And was considered one of the first birthplaces of the American ranching industry.
Karen: Wow. That really does put us right in the core of it. So – and tell us a little bit about you. You’ve been with the King Ranch how long?
Rose: I’ve been with the King Ranch for 21 years.
Karen: Wonderful. So you come from Kingsville, then.
Rose: Yes, I do.
Karen: Wonderful. So our famous Kingsville. Well, I tell you what. We really love hearing about the King Ranch, and we want to go into the Saddle Shop and where we are today, because that’s where we are today. So tell us a little bit about this location.
Rose: Well, we’re in the Houston City Center.
Karen: Right.
Rose: This is our pop-up location. We actually have a store in Kingsville.
Karen: Okay.
Rose: We have a website and a catalogue. But we opened this pop-up store November 1st, and we’ll be here till December 24th.
Karen: Wonderful. Well, I hope that you’ll come back again and visit with us, because we’d like to hear more about the King Ranch and the Saddle Shop and you.
Rose: Wonderful. Thank you.
