The Texas legislature is one of several state legislatures that only meet every two years. From health care to new tax laws, they vote on a number of bills during their session, many of which directly impact entrepreneurs.

Have you been keeping track of which pieces of legislation could potentially impact your business?

Having an awareness of what is being discussed, beyond the hot button issues that make the nightly news, can help you anticipate any new or changed laws that will impact your business. Your accounting and financial service providers should be able to provide you with information about the potential outcomes of the various committee meetings and bills being voted on.

As part of your mid-year and 2012 planning meetings with your advisors, be sure to inquire about new or changed legislation.

All of the information relating to the current legislative session, including proposed bills can be found on the Texas Legislature website, www.Capitol.State.TX.US.
